Graveside Services: will follow in the family lot of the Custer County Cemetery with Full Military Honors
Frank Laverne Thibault, age 80, of Miles City passed away on Monday, January 5, 2004 at the VA Nursing Home in Miles City.
Frank was born in Miles City, Montana on May 20, 1923, the son of Andrew and Mabel (Hutchinson) Thibault. He attended schools in Miles City, and in 1941 he graduated from Custer County High School. Frank enlisted in the service in 1941 where he served in the United States Army Air Corps. In 1942, he joined the United States Air Force where he served until his retirement in November of 1965. Frank received many medals and commendations during his 22 years in the service including the Soldiers Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. Frank retired from military service on November 1, 1965.
Frank married Claudia V. Wilburn in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on May 22, 1950, and together they had four children. Frank and his family lived in various places around the world including Japan, Germany, Alaska, Okinawa, Texas, California, North Dakota, Mississippi, and Colorado. Following the death of his wife in 1965, Frank brought his children home to Miles City. Upon returning, he worked for the Custer County Sheriffs Office, Pine Hills School, and operated Grants Cigar Store.
For many years, Frank enjoyed playing cards with all his poker buddies. He also enjoyed making agate jewelry, hunting, fishing, doing custom engraving, and spending time with his family.
Frank is survived by two sons: Dennis Thibault of Dickinson, ND and Steve Thibault of Miles City, MT; a daughter Patricia and son-in-law Dan Arnold of Miles City, MT; two brothers: Dale Thibault and Don Thibault, of Miles City, MT; twelve grandchildren: Keith Arnold, Virginia Gergen, Andy Arnold, Howie Thibault, DJ Thibault, Becky Arnold, Jammie Thibault, Amanda Thibault, Gary Thibault, Tyler Kowalzek, Elizabeth Thibault, and Katie Thibault; and six great grandchildren: Alexandria Hajenga, Donovan Thibault, MKala Arnold, Joseph Gergen, William Gergen, and Daymmon Hays.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife Claudia, his parents, a son David Thibault, a brother Floyd Thibault, a sister Lucille Thibault, and a great-granddaughter Macy Kae Arnold.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 8, 2004 in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 9, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.
