Friedrich Fred J.Kaul, age 97, of Fallon passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at the Glendive Nursing Home.

Fred was born on May 9, 1908 aboard the SS Barbarossa as his parents, Johann and Magdalena (Bieber) Kaul immigrated from Glueckstal, Russia to the United States. They arrived in this country when he was five days old, continued on to Eureka, SD where he was baptized in the Zion Lutheran Church on May 31, 1908.

In 1913 his parents moved to Montana and homesteaded in the Marsh area. He was confirmed in the Marsh Lutheran Church. In 1935, Fred and Caroline Gaub were married in Plevna, Montana in the German Congregational Church parsonage by Rev. Albert Hausauer. They farmed in the Marsh area until 1938 when they moved to Fallon. He continued farming and raising cattle the rest of his life. Caroline died in 1986. Fred continued to live in their home until March of 1999 when he moved to the Heritage Assisted Living residence in Glendive, Montana. In August 2000 he moved to the Glendive Extended Care facility where he resided until his death.

Fred is survived by his children, three daughters: Elaine (Robert) Pust, Cecelia (Harold) Wolff, Ramona (Wray) Freiboth; two sons: Vernon (Janice Trask) and Floyd (Diann Christensen); twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, two sisters: Caroline (Mrs. Emil Vegele) and Magdalena (Mrs. Albert Kalmback); one half sister, Katie (Mrs. George Rittal) and one half brother, Richard (Mabel)Kaul.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Caroline; one brother, John; three sisters: Lydia, Martha, and Pauline; three step brothers: Edwin, August, and DavidGaub; three step sisters: Marie (Mrs. JacobSiegle), Lydia (Mrs. Gydion Ulrich), Hilda (Mrs. Henry Oliver) and a half sister, Martha. A Prayer

Service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Fallon Evangelical Church in Fallon. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Prairie County Cemetery.
