Frederick (Mister) Dean Silk Jr. (Tantanka Ho’Waste – Good Speaking Buffalo), age 51, of Miles City, MT passed away on October 13, 2024. He was born in Glendive, MT to Frederick and Gladys Silk on May 23, 1973. He was a Beloved Brother to Sisters Carleen, Kolleen, Patricia and his love forever, his wife Wallisa Doney Silk.
Fred (Mister) grew up on the Fort Peck Indian Reservation where he had lots of family and friends and loved his early morning hunting trips with his dad and cousins. He loved hunting, fishing, camping, pow wows, concerts, and going to the mountains or just sitting by the river, playing baseball and basketball but not only that he was so talented with his drawings, native beadwork and singing his native songs. He had various jobs including working at the Sawmill in Missoula, a honey factory in Lohman, and the Montana Club in Great Falls, but his talent was cooking and when he moved to Miles City recently to be close to his sister’s, he was the cook for the Olive Restaurant and he loved to get his name out there with the food he cooked as he always got compliments on his skills in the kitchen.
Fred might not have always done everything right and may even gone off on the wrong path along the way, but he was always striving to find his way, but God had bigger plans for him. He loved each one of his kids and you knew it by the way he talked about them and the relationship he had with his oldest daughter Jazzma and how proud he was of her on graduating nursing and dental school and giving him his first grandchild Kinleigh.
He would later go on and marry Teresa Bryan and from that unity they had a daughter Briahna and son Jordan, who he was also was so proud of and loved very much. He would later marry his wife, Wallisa Silk, of Hays, Montana. He also had a son Quentin he loved very much, and he always wanted the best for them all.
Fred is survived by his kids Jazzma (Brent) Kinleigh, Briahna, Jordan and Quentin; sisters: Carleen (Dillon), Matthew, Alex, Makayla; Kolleen, Kobe, Ty’Annha (Bryce), Ronin (Jada), Bently, Koah, Ty’Jah; Trish, Dustan, Faith, Acacia and special cousins Billy, Debra, Ronnie Desjarlais Sr, John Jr, Sheryle, Joseph Amillatequi, Charles, and Charles Headdress Jr. and his best friend Angel.
Fred is preceded in death by his parents Fred and Gladys Silk; and Daniel Martell, Mary Colvin, Nellie Silk, Janice Poowegup, Sharon, and Sandy.
Special friends Lance Johnson and Buster Moore.
Please forgive us if we forgot to mention anyone as our family is extremely big to mention all but know you are all loved.

Carleen, Colleen and Trish I am so sorry about mister!! He was truly one of a kind. I am gonna miss all his crazy bullshit, stories of when we were kids on the rez,his crazy( drug influenced) adventures and all his stories where I never knew if he was telling the truth or lying most of all I will miss him!!
He was one crazy mother as he would say ain’t nobody gonna make him do anything. It seems when life finally starts to fall in place everything gets ripped away. He died doing what he loved doing driving fast and being crazy ,relax he would say I got

Sorry for your loss. I first met Fred at PHS many years ago. He was a joker, funny, kind & thoughtful. As many of the boys I had the pleasure of knowing & teaching. He was a good athlete, basketball & track, if I remember right. Always a smile, Hi Mrs. Jens how’s it going? Rest in peace, Fred.
