Edith Gail Tallwhiteman, Otse eme he e, Brave Woman, age 49 of Lame Deer, MT, surrounded by her family, began her journey to be with Maheo on Thursday, July 23, 2009 at St. Vincent Health Care in Billings after a courageous battle with lupus. Gail was a decedent of Bob Tail Horse, who led the charge on foot against Custer.
Gail was born July 1, 1960, the daughter of Russell Tallwhiteman Sr. and Eva American Horse in Crow Agency, MT. She attended Cornell High School in Washington and lived with her adopted foster parents Ray and Vanae Knight during this time. Following graduation she attended Chief Dull Knife College, where she received two degrees. She later attended MSU where she received a BA in Communications. Gail also got her CDL and drove truck for several companies. Gail was employed with the Northern Cheyenne BIA Social Services Department as the General Assistance Technician and Social Services Worker at the time of her illness.
Gail met the love of her life Tim Lame Woman Sr. in Lame Deer and together they spent 30 winters together. They had three children, Gaylon, Tim and Eva and also raised their granddaughter America Lame Woman as their own daughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Edwina, Corrine and Hilda; her brother Roy Sr. and her niece Tylonna Walksnice.
Gail is survived by her husband Tim Lame Woman Sr. of Lame Deer, MT; her children Gaylon, Tim Jr., and Eva Cerise of Lame Deer; her Brothers Russell Jr. and James Tallwhiteman both of Lame Deer; her adopted foster parents Ray and Vanae Knight of Washington; her aunts Susie Wilsey Cain of Ashland, MT, Maggie, Rose, Della, Georgia Runsabove all of Lame Deer and Philomena BigleftHand of Lame Deer, MT and Gail Jefferson; her uncles Leonard America Horse and Elgene Littlesun of Lame Deer, MT, and Joseph Tallwhiteman of Browning, MT;. her favorite nieces Emily WeaselBear, Destiny BigleftHand, Theresa LittleBird and Joetta BearComesOut; her special friends Event Spottedwolf of Billings, Mt, Debbie Russell of Crow Agency; Rennie Pena and Gina Seminole of Muddy Cluster, and Doreen Whitedirt of Tacoma, WA. She is also survived by relatives, Tallwhiteman, Little Bird, Red Neck, Russell, Runsabove, Woodenthigh, Red Cherries, Walkslast, Limpy, Chavez, Posey, Roundstone, Weaselbear, Club Foot, Bearcomesout, Bearchum, Crazy Mule, Yellow Fox, Medicine Top, Spotted Wolf, Whitewolf, Talawyma, Rochelle, Youngbear, Gray, Littlewolf, Woundedeye, Whitecrane, Spotted Elk, Wilson, Rowland, White Woman, American Horse, Pretty Boy, and His Bad Horse.
