In Memory Of

Garold (Gary) R. Lucas

Funeral Service: 2 p.m., Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home with graveside military honors at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Harrison.

Garold Robert Lucas (Gary) age 62, passed away at Fort Harrison Medical Center on June 12, 2010. Garold was born in Williston, North Dakota on August 12, 1947.

His parents were living in Wheelock, ND at the time of his birth. He also lived in Ray and Williston ND before starting school in Grenora ND. He went to school two years in Chinook, MT and finished his schooling in Plentywood, MT. In 1986 he received a GED from the Division of Adult Education in Helena, MT. Gary worked for Howard Waller Body Shop as a painter before he joined the Army for a 2 year stint. His basic training was at Fort Ord, CA. Gary spent a few years in Texas working for the Salvation Army and working on oil rigs. Gary was in Texas for a year, then came home and joined the Army National Guard, completing 15 years. After coming home from Texas, Gary Spent many years working for the Sheridan County Road Department.He spent 7years working with his father at Franks Service Center (AMOCO oil station). Gary then went to work for Sheridan Ready Mix and cleaned for Butch Nielsen at Cassidys Bar. His last 7 years he lived in Helena, part of that time he worked at Bennys Bistro.Garys hobbies included playing pool, oil painting, and throwing horseshoes. He played on a horseshoe league for many years and enjoyed traveling to tournaments with his father, and was proud of the trophies he brought home.

A special friend Mike Serha of Helena was always looking out for him. Also, Gordon and Emily Nielsen were always there to lend a helping hand and were much appreciated by the family.

He is survived by his mother Irma Lucas of Great Falls, sister Kathy Wayne Stringer of Medicine Lake, MT, two brothers Keith Lucas of Plentywood, MT and Craig Lucas of Great Falls, MT; niece Malissa Taylor and her children Sam and Maddie; Nephew Travis (Aurora) Stringer and their children Frankie, Hannah, and Jesse; and Niece Tanya (Paul) Bramhall and their children Sarah and Elijah Royal, and Rhylee Bramhall. He is also survived by one uncle and four aunts and numerous cousins.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 17, 2010 at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home with graveside military honors at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Harrison. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.
