It always bothered Garry that he didn’t have his diploma and at the age of 60 on October 29, 2007, he graduated with his diploma from the Miles City Community College. This was a great source of pride for Garry with his wife, several children and grandchildren attending his graduation.

In the 80’s the family moved to Jordan, MT where Garry worked a variety of jobs delivering feed for Fellman’s cake plant, worked as a ranch hand and purchased the Jordan Freight Company and delivered freight to Jordan, MT as Loomis Freight.
Garry loved historical building always seeing the beauty in making old things new again. He at one time leased the old Brusett store and owned the Garfield County school dormitory in Jordan MT. In 1998 Bonnie and Garry finally settled in Miles City, MT where they continue to live to this day.
Everyone that knew Garry loved him. Garry was soft spoken and was known for his hard work, and kindness. It was rare to hear Garry speak badly of anyone. He was dearly loved by his family especially his grandkids and great grandkids. Garry had a special love for animals and owned several horses, donkeys, chickens and dogs throughout his life. He had a special way with animals. Garry loved hunting and fishing. When he was young he loved competing in demolition derby’s and rodeo where he participated in bronc riding and team roping. Bonnie and all your family –
I was stunned to learn of Garry’s passing. He fought a long and arduous battle. I’ll always remember him as a fellow student at the Pine Grove School. He was a loyal friend over all the years since those schoolhouse days. Whether we bumped into each other at a Town Pump when he was trucking, or a grocery store, or at Walmart, time stood still as we started to visit. Nothing in his life came easy, but he always took it in stride. One only has to look at the lives of his children to see a reflection of his kindness and integrity. He will be remembered and missed by many. My heart and prayers are with you today and in the months ahead. Look to the One who gives us strength. He will never abandon you. Hugs to all.
Claudia Stanton says

Bonnie, Lorretta, Alaina and the rest of the Loomis family please know how deeply saddened I am by the news of my beloved “Mel’s” passing. I will never forget the hours he spent trying to help us all with algebra he was super sharp and had a great way of helping us understand. I will also never forget his Love, compassion, kindness, great passion to help others especially when it came to his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, family, friends, and any animal that needed his help, love, or nourishment. He was and will always be a great and generous role model to all who’s life he touched! With much love, many prayers and hugs to the moon and back please know how very much I love each and everyone of you, since 1st day of Kindergarten (the day of the stuffed animal disaster, only Lorretta will understand this part). Please keep your memories close to your hearts and call me if you should ever need anything! All my prayers
