Gary Lee Preston, age 76 of Gillette, WY, formerly of Miles City, passed away on June 29, 2025, at the Holy Rosary Hospital Hospice room in Miles City.
Gary was born on August 24, 1948, in Miles City, MT. He was the son of Kenneth and Alvera (Irion) Preston. He grew up in Miles City and graduated from Custer County High School. He taught at the Sacred Heart Catholic School and coached with Dan Connors. He also worked for Milo Huber at the clothing store for a while. In 1978 they moved to Gillette, WY where they opened and ran a clothing store of their own. In 1997, Gary went back to teaching at the Twin Spruce Junior High School up until a few years ago. He enjoyed coaching football, wrestling and basketball during this time as well. Gary enjoyed watching all sports and was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, and his sister Gloria Patrick. He is survived by his wife Bev, of Gillette, WY; his son Brandon (Melody) Preston of Gillette, WY; grandchildren Kameron (Shay) Preston and Braydon Preston; two nieces Rachelle & Roxanne; and numerous cousins.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com. In leu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
