Gary Lee Patrick was born on November 6, 1944, at the Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City, MT. He was raised by James C. Patrick and Helen M. Patrick in Hathaway, MT, and he attended Rosebud School until the 8th grade.
Gary was a good ol’ boy threw and threw. His passions in life were family, friends, racing, derby cars, machanicing, BSing, loved messing with his tractors, loved his pets big and small (always had cake in his pockets for livestock), Sundays if you wanted to find Gary you knew he was in his easy chair watching NASCAR. Wherever there was laughter or a roar Gary was sure to be there, was the life of the party and was sure to be heard. Loved twirling Cora around the dance floor at any occasion. He could light up a room with his smile. Had a great sense of humor was sure to make you laugh and if you didn’t joke was on you. Always one to lend a helping hand.
In 1964 he helped work on the Yellowtail Dam in Fort Smith, MT, as a heavy equipment operator. In 1965 he was drafted into the army and completed AIT in Fort Belvoir, VA. After AIT he was stationed in Germany for the remainder of his service and worked as a power plant operator and mechanic. While in the service, Gary received a good conduct medal, national defense service medal, and was qualified as a rifle marksman. He was discharged on November 21, 1967 as an SP4.
He then returned to Montana and worked for the Teamsters Union until 1973. He then worked for Western Energy as an operator and mechanic in Colstrip, MT, until 1991, all the while living in Miles City, MT. While in Miles City, MT, he met Cora May Davis and they married in the Rosebud Church on September 3, 1977. In 1991 they made the move to Forsyth, MT, where he retired in 2006, but still kept busy by driving beat trucks on occasion. Throughout his life he has been a member of the Eagles Lodge, American Legion, and Moose Lodge.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Jim C. and Helen M. Patrick; and sisters, Sharon Patrick and Leona Carline.
He is survived by his wife, Cora Patrick; children: Lee Ann (Jeff) Woodward, Safford, AZ, Lesa Wilkens Beam, Shoshoni, WY, Jay (Tracy) Patrick, Forsyth, MT, Lee (Rose) Patrick, Forsyth, MT; sisters, Birdie Blankinship, Branson, MO, and Pattie Breen, Colorado Springs, CO; brother, Tommy (Pam) Breen; 9 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
He loved all of his children and grandchildren along with his adoring wife of 40 wonderful years.
