Tim Cates, life-time resident of Gillette, passed away July 6th at Pioneer Manor of natural causes.
Visitation will be held Saturday July 8th at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home from 3 to 7 p.m. Memorial Services for Gary Tim Cates, 59 of Gillette, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 15th at the Blanche Beck Memorial Chapel in the Pioneer Manor with Pastor Mike Dennis of the Christian Church officiating.Burial will follow memorial service at Mt. Pisgah
Tim was born inGillette, Wyoming to James and Willa (Bell) Cates, November 21, 1945. He attended school in Gillette where he enjoyed wrestling and playing football. Tim graduated from Campbell County High School in 1963. He began working for the family business, Cates Electric where he did books and became an electricians helper. Tim loved to cook, golf,fish, garden and do yard work. He was especially proud that the local newspaper featured him in his garden at Pioneer Manor recently. He loved to spend hours in the store just shopping. For the past few years Tim had resided at Pioneer Manor due to health reasons. There he befriended many residents and was always looking for different ways to make life easier and happier for them. He was a people person; he had many friends and love to kid around especially with a squirt gun. He was also very protective over the nurses if anyone tried to harass them. He was very loyal and committed to anything he was doing. He was an avid Elvis fan he collected every album, tape or CD that Elvis ever made. Tim was well thought of by his friends and family who viewed him as a kind, warm and tender-hearted man.
Tim is survived by an older sister, Mary Ann Barritt of Goldbar, Washington, and older brothers: Douglas Bud Cates, Raymond Cates and a younger sister Nancy Slattery all of Gillette; as well as several aunts, uncles and cousins and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death, by his parents, and an older brother Jimmy and numerous other family members.
