Geneva Medicine Elk (Red Haired Woman), age 62 of Lame Deer, MT passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 19, 2011 at St. Vincent Health Care Center in Billings, Montana.
She was born in Lame Deer, MT on June 3rd, 1948 the daughter of Margaret Medicine Elk. She grew up in Lame Deer and attended local schools she graduated from Busby Boarding School. She attended one year of nursing school in Michigan. She was a spiritual woman who completed all her sun dance vows and earned her paints. Geneva married Newton American Horse and they later divorced.
Geneva was preceded in death by her mother and fathers Fred Whiteman and Fred White Wolf; her sisters Cleo Medicine Elk, Delores White Wolf, and Gwenda Whiteman; her brothers George and John Lone Elk and Clayton Troy Laforge; her Grandfather Peter Whiteman; her Grandmother Mabel PrettyOnTopShe is survived by her sons Travis, Waylon and Cyryil American Horse; her adopted daughters Tami Horn, Theresa RedNeck, Zeniada BlackWolf, Connie Nomee, Gizelle Kellum, Edwina ThreeIrons, Tamara LittleBear and Jackie Foote; her sisters Alvera (Tim) Cook, Ardith (Lloyd) Hogan and Brenda (Ertis) Fighter; her brothers Bernadine, Elvis and Lloyd Lone Elk Sr., Leroy and Robert Maass, Fred White Wolf Jr., Leslie(Theresa) White Wolf, Mark (Ruth) White Wolf and Clifford (Octa) Small; her Aunt Henrietta PrettyOnTop and Uncle John PrettyOnTop.
She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Other survivors include members of the following families, BearQuiver, WolfName, Whiteman, PrettyOnTop, Freemans, WoodenLegs, Mornings and special friend Clementcia Nomee.
