Interment: Friday, October 19th at 2:00 p.m. in the Plevna Community Union Cemetery in Plevna
Genevieve W. Gene Leischner, age 82, of Miles City passed away on Monday, October 15, 2007 at Joyce Inc. Foster Care in Miles City.
Genevieve was born Genevieve Greenlee in Baker Montana in 1925. She was raised on her familys farm south of Plevna. Genevieve went toRedhill country school until she was in the fifth grade and the school was closed, she then had to board in Baker andattend school there. Genevieve finished her elementary education and graduated from high school in Baker. She attended college in Billings at Normal School now known as Montana State University Billings. She spent five years during the war, teaching school during the school year and attending college in the summer.
In 1948, Genevieve married Isadore Leischner. The couple lived in Plevna whereIsadore and his brother owned a service station. Genevieve and Isadore raised three children, Clyde, Cheryl and John. Genevieves husband went home to be with the Lord, in December of 1987. She also served as Chaplain of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion. Genevieve moved to Miles City in 1997. Gene always kept busy and was very crafty and made the best kuchen and bread. She loved to work in her garden and collect teddy bears. In 1997 she was named Senior of the Year, for all of her volunteer work. She was very proud of the opportunity she had to meet Governor Marc Racicot. She worked at the senior center at both Miles City and Plevna. She also helped with the vocational rehab, senior companions and would go grocery shopping for others and check in on them. Gene dearly loved her family and spending time with them.
Gene is survived by two sons: Clyde (Kathy) Leischner of Miles City, MT; and John (Joyce) Leischner of Miles City, MT; a daughter Cheryl (Lynn) Scheid of Miles City, MT; six grandchildren: Kelly Draper, Kory Draper, Brent Leischner, Aaron Leischner, Timbr Alderman, and Ranger Leischner; fourteen grandchildren: Kelsey Draper, Ayden Draper, Hannah, Wesley, Joel and RuthLeischner, Draven Winkley, Arie, Aurora and Adlei Leischner, McKinsey Alderman, Ryley, Kayley and Keyley Leishcner; her nieces: Nancy Currey ofIsmay, Lucy Lovec of Sidney, MT; Bea Burns of Baker, and Faye Gaskin of Moorcroft, WY; an adopted sister, Arlene Kope of Miles City and her family; a special friend, Joyce Conley of Miles City, MT; and her companion pets,Keeshie and Harriet.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, IsadoreLeischner, two brothers: Harold and Vernon, a grandson, Justin, and a nephew, Larry Greenlee.
A Prayer service will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at Grace Bible Church. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 19, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Bible Church in Miles City. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. in thePlevna Community Union Cemetery inPlevna.
