George Carter, age 94, of Terry passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2004 at the Prairie County Nursing Home in Terry.
George was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 2, 1910, the son of Robson and Nellie (Malloney) Carter. As a young man, he moved to Rushville, Nebraska with his family. George married Vietta Ewing in Chadron, Nebraska on June 1, 1937. Following their marriage, they moved to Montana to get "Rich" working for the soil conservation service and the Bureau of Reclamation as a "catskinner".
George enjoyed auctioning, farming and raising pigs, and playing cards and bingo.
George was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Vietta in 2002, a brother Eugene Carter and his wife Rosella, a son Georgie LeRoy Carter; a daughter, Mary Ann Carter; and a granddaughter, Virginia Lee MacDonald.
George is survived by his sons: Willard Carter of Fallon, MT; Timothy Carter and his wife Deb of Columbus, MT; her daughter Catherine Dielman and her husband Lewis of Box Elder, MT; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Carter of Fallon, MT; two granddaughters: Heather Carter of Terry, MT; two grandsons: Leroy R. Lee of Hastings, MN; and Todd Loomer of Phoenix, AZ; two step grandsons: L. Linn of Columbia Falls, MT; and Mark Dielman of Box Elder, MT; three step granddaughters: Alverta Dielman of Hastings, MN; Kelly Rogers and her husband Ralee of Columbus, MT; Laura McCamey and her husband Jay of Roundup, MT.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2004 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 22, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Prairie County Cemetery in Terry.
