The morning of September 7, 2018 George Franklin Coon, was freed from his pain. He was compassionately cared for and loved by the staff at Homestead Home and Holy Rosary Hospice.
George was born near Broadus to first time parents Pearl (Turner) and Aaron Coon. He was later joined by brothers Marshall and Charles, who George lovingly called “Hap”.
George got into trouble as a teen and spent some time at the boy’s school. Later in life he returned to dedicate over 20 years at Pine Hills School for boys.
He always said he was going to stop teasing girls but that never happened. He teased them to his last day.
George was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Marshall. He is survived by his brother Charles Coon, niece Roxanna (Greg) Brush, nephew Thomas Coon and their children and grandchildren. We will miss him.

No matter where I’ve gone and where I’ve moved I’ll always have my birth year 50 cent piece and “diamond” pin as he called them they’re really a dime (from your birth year) sautered to a safety pin 😅 I remember when I couldn’t sleep at night I’d walk down to M&H just to visit with GFC while he drank his coffee and sat in his truck with his dogs waiting for the newspapers… We made many of great memories those few years!
