George Fisher, Ske’eohe’e “little River”, Mo’Kohta’vahe Po’eso “Black Cat”, age 77, saddled up to start his journey to meet family who have gone before him on August 8, 2017. George was born on August 22, 1939 in Crow Agency, MT to the late John Fisher and Mary Playing Bear Fisher. George attended Ashland and Busby Schools. He grew up in Birney, MT, as a young boy he was given a rite to dance as a traditional dancer and sponsored by Jr. MedicineElk. He worked with his father herding cattle, branding, and just becoming a cowboy. He was never seen without his hat and boots. George also would break horses for ranchers, who would often fight over him for the job. He also enjoyed singing pow-wow songs with his brothers and nephews. He worked as a ranch hand for Jack Knobloch for some years. He also worked in Ashland, MT in the Jewel of Arts Factory and at the Shoulderblade Complex as a home delivery driver and part time security. We would like to thank Katherine Russell and Francis Limpy for being there for George during his appointments and taking him shopping. George was very close to his brother, Dudley Fisher, who also was there for him as much as he could. We are unsure of his close friends, as George was a very private and a simple man. We apologize if we do not acknowledge you.
He is survived by his brother, Dudley Fisher; sister, Betty Rogers; one daughter; nephews: Waylon, Lonnie, Steven, Conrad, Burton Jr., Dennis, and Lionel; and nieces: Coleen, Arlene, Maryann, Leeann, Toni, Anya, and Marilyn.
He is in preceded in death by his parents, John Fisher and Mary Playing Bear; sister, Rosie Fisher; brother, Burton Fisher Sr.; niece, Kim Rogers; nephew, Emery Fisher; and granddaughter, Roseann Fisher. The Fisher Family would like to thank all who have cared for George during his time of his Illness.
