George Heide, age 88, of Circle passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at the McCone County Nursing Home in Circle.
George was born on the family homestead on May 6, 1926 with Dr. Rundle attending. He was the third child born to Rudolph and Otilie (Kulhanek) Heide. He went to Brockway School his first eleven years with the exception of parts of two years spent in the Washington Rural School. Brockway High School closed in 1943 so he had to transfer to Circle High School where he graduated in 1944. George attended Montana State University in Bozeman and graduated in 1948. After graduating from college, he returned to Circle to farm, ranch and teach vocational training for veterans from World War II and the Korean War. On December 27, 1952, he was united in marriage to Ilamae Flemming in Harvard, Illinois. To this union, six children were born.
George was a member of the First Lutheran Church where he taught Sunday School for many years. He served on the Farmers Union Elevator Board. He also worked for the ASCS as a field man. He was the clerk of the Washington School for many years. He was a 4-H leader for many years also. George loved auction sales, always finding a unique; one of a kind item and you quickly got an education on whatever he found. George had an incredible green thumb and always had a wonderful garden.
George was preceded in death by his wife Ilamae and a son Shawn Leroy, his parents Rudolph and Otilie, a brother Edward and his wife Olive, a sister Alice and her husband Marion Holben, and a brother-in-law James Flemming and his wife Kathy. George is survived by his children: Mark (Melody) of Billings, MT; Scott (Carrie) of Circle, MT; Gregg (Shonda) of Circle, MT; Gale (Mary) of Belgrade, MT; Dawn (Jim) Harvey of Dillon, MT; eleven grandchildren: Jason (Kim) of Spokane, WA; Garrett (Andrea) of Billings, MT; Jennifer (Aundre) Bell of Maricopa, AZ; Chris (Mary) of Circle, MT; Zelwyn (Laura) of Fort Wayne, IN; Zander (Nikki) of Circle, MT; Trina (Matt) Thibault of Bozeman, MT; Alethia of Belgrade, MT; and Bradley, Joel, and Jacob Harvey of Dillon, MT; five great grandchildren: Elijah and Alivia Bell of Maricopa, AZ; John and Ben Heide of Fort Wayne, IN; and Carl Heide of Circle, MT.

Heide Family, I am sad to hear of the death of your dear father. Mr. Heidi was my Sunday School teacher when I was a child. I will always remember his patience and grace. He modeled the life of a true disciple, having Mr. Heide as a teacher was a blessing to me. My prayers are with you at this difficult time. May God’s peace be with you.

My sincere condolences to the family George Heide – It was not the Creator’s purpose for mankind to suffer (Romans 5:12). May the Creator give you peace through his promise to comfort us (2 Corinthians 1:3, 4). Cherish all your happy memories and I hope that you are consoled by Bible promises of a hopeful future (John 17:3).
