George Keniv joined his two brothers, Paul and Bill, on Tuesday, August 30, 1932 in Steele, North Dakota to parents Jennie (Kiosse) Keniv and George Keniv.
On Tuesday, November 2, 2021, George was welcomed home by his Heavenly Father to join his parents, brothers, other family members and friends.
George grew up in Steele, North Dakota, graduating from high school in 1950.
George proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1954, during the Korean Era. He was an instructor on the Airborne Demonstration Team, completing over 35 jumps.
During George’s working career, some of his jobs consisted of construction, railroad, seismograph, the phone company and most notably the Beacon Carter for over 30 years, providing customers with the best care. You could always leave the Beacon with a sparkling clean windshield. We will all remember his infamous phone greeting of, “Beacon, George Speakin”.
George not only proudly served in the Army but in later years he served over 15 years in the DAV. He enjoyed setting up, providing treats and calling Bingo for the Vets at the VA Community Center. George was also a 36 continuous year member of the American Legion.
When George’s health failed him, he joined his fellow Veteran’s living at the VA Clinic in Miles City, Montana.
George leaves behind so many cherished memories in addition to his sister-in-law Ruby Keniv; nieces and their families Carol (Walter) Nelson, Sheila (Ed) Rickett; and nephew Gary Keniv. Also left to share his memories are great nieces and a nephew along with their families, cousins, and life-long friends.
Uncle George, you may be gone from your earthly home but you will never be forgotten.

I will miss seeing George when our paths crossed. Such a gentle man, a kind soul and a wonderful man. May God bless you all with the best of memories now and always.

I am sorry to hear George has gone to heaven. Our family enjoyed his many years assistance to us while he was at Beacon Carter. I was really happy to reconnect with him a couple of years ago delivering Meals on Wheels. He had said his heart was “about shot “ then. He truly was such a nice man.
Bobbi Durst Askin says
George was the one who pumped my gas and check the oil on my visits to the Beacon Carter. Have known him since I started driving in high school about 1972. He and Eddie Stein always took such good care of my cars. I will miss you George – we had some great visits. You were always such a gentleman. RIP my friend.
Julie Long says
I so loved visiting with him when I was a volunteer and able to come in and do music.

Uncle George, you will always and forever be near and dear to me and my family’s hearts.
I have so many wonderful memories but one specifically always puts a smile on my face. It was when I was little there were many occasions where I got to accompany Grandpa Paul to the Beacon Carter for an afternoon visit. Uncle George would always let me sit on his stool behind the counter and eat candy. I would watch Uncle George and Grandpa visit and laugh. I can still see their smiles and hear their laughs.
We love you Uncle George and our hearts ache so much that you are gone but you gave us so many memories to hang onto till we see you again.

I always looked forward to seeing my cousin George when I was in Montana. I have special memories of the time that George and his brother Bill spent a few days with my family on their way home from Korea after their military service ended. They were such a delight to us children as they played with us and Bill serenaded with his accordion music. Blessings to George’s nieces and nephew as they mourn his passing.

Sorry that I could not attend the funeral, but I watched it online. Prayers go to his immediate family. I always liked George. I visited him ever so often and for years I took him goodies at Christmas. He was a nice man. I remember when he came out to the ranch when I was young.
He will be missed by many.
