Funeral services: Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Miles City.
Interment: will follow in the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City.
George L. Sindelar, age 70, of Miles City, MT died on April 3, 2009 at the Holy Rosary Healthcare Hospice after a short battle with cancer.
George was born in Jordan, MT on June 25, 1938 to George C. and Ruth (Jacobson) Sindelar. He attended schools and graduated from Custer County High School in 1957. In 1958, he and Betty Meidinger were the first couple to be wed in the newly built Kinsey Church. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2008. George worked for several businesses, most notably Foster Drug, for many years. He worked at Pine Hills School Correctional Facility for 30 years before retiring.George was very active in the community. He belonged to the Jaycees, Eagles, Elks, Community Concert Board, Veterans Rep, MC Lodge #537, Hospital Committee, Town and Country Club and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.George loved his family and was so proud of his grandchildren. He was a kind, wonderful man. Always helping others, he was a mister fix-it. George collected cameras, loved to read and do crossword puzzles. He enjoyed woodworking, bird watching and loved to play golf.
George was preceded in death by his parents; George C. and Ruth Sindelar and his sister Joanne Sindelar Webb.
He is survived by his wife Betty of Miles City, and their three children; Julie Sindelar Groggel, Mark Sindelar and Mike Sindelar, brother Norman and grandchildren: Avery, Damon and Mallory. He is also survived by numerous relatives including a special nephew and niece, Scott and Kasey and their children Jason and Jared Branum.
And a special thank you to family friend Jewelie Johnson for all her help and support. He will be missed and loved forever.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 7th, 2009 with the family to receive friends from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm with a prayer service at 6:00 pm at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Miles City. Interment will follow in the Custer County Cemetery in Miles City.
