Interment: will follow at the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette
On July 17, 2003 George Irish Walter Gillespie of Gillette, WY formerly of Windsor, Ontario, was finally granted his greatest wish and went to be with the Lord, in his 60th year.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 P.M., Monday, July 21, 2003 at the Family Life Church in Gillette, with Pastor Martin Crump Officiating. Interment will follow at the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Gillette. Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
George was born on October 27, 1942, the son of Paul Gillespie and Lily Gawley of Windsor, Ontario, Canada. George, known to his friends and family as Irish, was raised and educated in the Windsor area, attending local schools. Upon the completion of his schooling, he entered the Canadian Army, serving in Germany in NATO. After his release, Irish continued living in Germany. In 1976, he returned to Canada where he made his home, working for Daimler-Chrysler as an assembler for 25 years before retiring in September of 2002. Upon retirement, Irish married Judy Shaner in Gillette, Wyoming. The couple was married on July 20, 2002. He moved to Gillette to make his home with his beloved wife, Judy. Irish enjoyed nature, fitness, fishing, playing guitar, writing, and especially spreading the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and praising God.
Irish is survived by his wife Judy, son Ronnie, stepdaughter Roxanna and husband Jerry Hathaway and granddaughter Vanessa, stepson Keith Compton and wife Wendy and grandchildren Samantha, Hanna and Garrett, mother Lily, sister Irma Girard and husband Jack, sister Marlene Rumble and husband John, sister Julie Bauer and husband Herman, brother Pat Gillespie and wife Jane, brother Bill Gawley and wife Terri, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by father Paul Gillespie.
