Lee Nunn says
I spent two summers at the ranch on Little Missouri “helping” with roundup when I was 12 and 13, being personally invited by Uncle Bub. It was probably there that I learned to be an early riser. I still remember how disgusted he looked when he came into the bunkhouse one morning and caught me still in bed reading a book! I learned a lot there and had a great time with Judy, Jesse, Jerry, Jay and Joel.
It was interesting that a guy who wanted to appear gruff would have the sensitivity to invite me out when he had lots of boys already!! I look forward to meeting up with him again some day.
Susan (Kastner) Mosby says

I will miss this man more then words can every express. He taught me lots. Nona my thought and and prayers are with you and the family. I thought about you both often and have very fond memories of being able to learn from you both. He was tough and gruff man but never once did I ever have to experience that side of him. I love you both dearly as if you were my own grandparents.

Our sincere sympathies to Bub’s family. Bub and Pat were our neighbors on the ranch where I grew up south of Medora. The last of the river folks left alive is Martha McCutchon and she’s in SD. Not many of the old ranches are left. A new era has begun in the Badlands.
