Gilbert Charles Brady Sr. was born to Charles and Annie Brady of Lame Deer, Montana on February 14, 1947. He was one of two children to Mother Annie and was raised by Grandparents Alex & Josie (Pine) Brady until the age of 13 in the Lame Deer. He graduated from St. Labre in 1965. He enlisted in the Marine Corps where he served in the Vietnam Conflict. He later continued onto college at Montana Tech where he achieved an Associate’s degree in Arts and Business.
Gilbert was a very proud Marine, displaying his Marine Corps flags on his vehicles and wore the Marine emblems on his hats, shirts, and coats.
Gilbert was a member of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe, a traditional practitioner, he was involved in ceremonies, protection of the sacred, cultural sites and repatriation of human remains. In the 70’s along with elder society members he helped to re-organize the Traditional Military Societies, including the Crazy Dog Society and others.
From his first marriage, he fathered three children; Lynn Brady, Gilbert C. (Juanita) Brady Jr, Barry Brady.
On December 20, 1982 Gilbert married Wanda Brady. He fathered two children, Charles Brady, and George Brady. He also adopted Miranda Shanta and Brandon Brady.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda, Lynn, Gilbert Jr., George, and Brandon. His grandchildren Jasmine B. Keisha, Tonya, JT, Chenille, Marissa, Jaimie, Jasmine J., A’lairyn, Brevin, and Shandreya.
He is proceeded in death by his parents, his brother John Whistlingelk, his sons Barry and Charles, and his Grandson Dalen Chavao.
Gilbert’s relatives include the families of Brady, Pine, Seminoles, Whistling Elk, and Braided Hair. Our family is large and we apologize if we have failed to mention anyone.

I met Gilbert while doing archaeological work for the Rueter-Hess Reservoir construction in Parker, CO. Gilbert was monitoring the construction and would stop by our sites. He and I after that project often went to have lunch together at Chipotle. Rest in peace friend.
