Graveside Services: will be held on Friday, September 24th at 1:00 p.m. at the Custer County Cemetery
Gladys Rose, age 94, of Miles City, Montana, passed away on Tuesday, September 21, 2004, at the Friendship Villa Care Center in Miles City.
She was born June 24, 1910 in Marlington, West Virginia. She moved to Van Norman in Garfield County in her early 20's to help her sister Cleo raise her family on a Big Dry homestead. Gladys then moved to Miles City with the family when the Fort Peck Dam was built. Gladys basically lived in Miles City the rest of her long life. Her residence at 1515 Kadzie was a shelter for many abandoned animals, a dog kennel and for a short while, the city dog pound. She had a wonderful menagerie of dogs, cats, goats, rabbits, chickens, ducks, geese and stray children. She was generous of her time, laughter and care for all these creatures. Her beloved Pekinese dogs still have descendants living in this area and surrounding towns. Her other great love was her appaloosa horses.
Her partner Frank Scott preceded her death.
Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Miles City is in charge of the arrangements.
