Glenn Erwin Mendenhall, age 69, of Circle, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2021, at his home in Circle, MT. Glenn was the only child of Clarence “Buck” and Edna (Neumann) Mendenhall. He was born on October 16, 1951, at Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City, MT.
Glenn graduated from Custer County High School in 1969. The following year he married Rose Ann Whitney. The couple had a daughter, Susan, and four boys, Charles, Greg, Timothy, and Scott. The union ended in divorce after many years.
Glenn had a variety of jobs. As a young adult he worked in Buttrey’s bakery decorating cakes, drove trucks hauling oil out of Canada for Northern Montana Oil Services, as well as working as a carpenter building Colstrip’s power plant Unit 1, Unit 2, Unit 3 and Unit 4. Later he became a traveling millwright working in Utah, Pennsylvania, and other locations. Glenn moved up to the role of superintendent, continuing to travel for work to a variety of locations including: Florida, the Philippines, and Thailand. He was an active member of United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners serving as the secretary.
During the 1980s, Glenn moved his family to a ranch near Terry, MT. He sold the ranch after buying a Dairy Queen in Beach, ND, which he operated for many years before settling down in Circle where he ranched for a while. He purchased the Corner Bar and added the Diamond M Steakhouse, thus fulfilling his lifelong dreams of owning a ranch and a bar.
Glenn was preceded in death by his father, his son Scott, and many family members.
He is survived by his mother, a daughter, three sons, his aunt Marjorie Pontius (Miles City, MT), numerous cousins, ten grandchildren, and a great-grandson, as well as many friends.
