Glenn Alvin Shores found his ultimate peace and healing on March 17, 2021, after a courageous three year battle with cancer. On October 6, 1955, a second son was born to Forrest and Helen (Gormley) Shores in Greybull Basin Hospital in Wyoming. Being quite a few years younger than this four older sisters and one older brother, Glenn was the baby of the family and was spoiled and doted on by everyone. Glenn attended schools in Greybull, Billings, Forsyth and Miles City, MT. Glenn graduated from Custer County District High School in 1974.
From a very young age, Glenn was fascinated by music. He never had any formal musical training, but was able to teach himself to read and play the drums as a child. Glenn started playing in his first band, 100 Proof, while he was still in high school. He then proceeded to play in bands, including Sugar Mountain Band and Montana River Band for the next 40 years. Glenn’s entire family loved to go watch him play the drums and sing and did every chance they got.
Glenn started his work career at the young age of 5 yrs old shining shoes outside Shores Shoe Store. In high school he went to work for Anthony’s clothing store working side by side with his mom and dad. Glenn worked for Pine Hills State School for many years. Glenn later became a manager and bouncer for Bojangles Night Club breaking up many fights and pouring a stiff drink for friends and family. Glenn worked for Pierce Homes and finally as a contractor doing odd jobs. Glenn also lovingly cared for his two sister’s horses and land for the last ten years. Glenn fell in love with these horses and found his own peace and therapy while spending every extra minute he had out with the horses and nature.
But Glenn’s favorite role and most fulfilling contribution to his family started when he was 18 years old in 1973 when his sister bought him his first Santa Claus suit. Glenn then proceeded to become Santa every Christmas Eve for family and friends until Christmas 2018. Glenn brought so much joy to hundreds of kids each Christmas and loved watching their faces light up when they heard his magical Christmas bells and his unmistakable “Ho Ho Ho.”
Glenn married Glenda Campbell in 1977. To this union two son’s, Robbie and Shaun, (that Glenn loved deeply) were born. Glenn became Papa to Quayde, Keagan and Teryn and step-Papa to Jazzmin, Kyra, and Brian. He then married Lilly Cruise, they later divorced. Papa Glenn loved his grandkids with all his heart and attended every game and performance he could. Glenn was also an amazing uncle to his nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and would often be seen sitting in the crowd to cheer them on also. Family was everything to Glenn.
Glenn’s love and devotion to his family always led him to helping them out in any way he could. He may have never had monetary riches, but was the type of man that would give you the shirt off his back and never ask anything in return. Glenn was rich beyond measure emotionally and is a very treasured member of his family.
Glenn will be missed and his absence will be felt deeply by all who had the privilege of loving him. Glenn’s battle with cancer was not easy, going to Arizona and Chicago, every other week for the last three years (by himself) for his cancer treatments at the Cancer Treatment Centers of America. Glenn fought so hard to stay here for his family for as long as he could. Glenn never wanted to give up and continued to fight until his last breath. Cancer DID NOT win, Glenn did by finally finding his ultimate peace and healing with the Lord.
Glenn is survived by his two son’s, Robbie (Larisa Watson) and Shaun Shores both of Miles City, MT and their mom, Glenda Shores. Three grandchildren – Quayde, Keagan and Teryn and three step-grandchildren – Jazzmin, Kyra, and Brian. Glenn is also survived by three sisters – Neva (Bill) Shipp, Janice (Tom) Mostoller and Anita Muri; one brother – Rod (Jane) Shores; three sister-in-laws Frankie Christianson, Kathy Randall, and Tammy Foley; three brother-in-law’s, Robert Emmett, Jack Campbell and Stan Clelland. His goddaughter, BreAnna Simpson. Along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and many cousins and friends.
Glenn was welcomed home by his parents, Forrest and Helen Shores; one sister Darlene Emmett; three brother-in-law’s Pete Muri, Bob Campbell and Freddie Campbell; two sister-in-law’s Sharon Clelland and Nancy Campbell; nieces Carrie Emmett and Kayla Harris; nephew’s Greg Emmett and Rylan Dyba; grandparents Alvin and Montz Shores and Glenn and Inez Gormley.
The family would like to thank the Cancer Treatment Centers of America in Arizona and Dr. Allen Tan at Rush Medical Center in Chicago for giving Glenn three extra years with his loved ones. The family would also like to thank Jeff, Tammy and Jace Muri owners of The Billings Hotel for the generousity in allowing Glenn to stay there on his way to and from his treatments. Thank you also to hospice at the Holy Rosary Hospital.
The family requests that everyone wear green to celebrate Glenn’s life. Should friends or family desire, memorials may be made to the “Glenn Shores Benefit Account” or the Outlaw or Maverick Baseball Association.

The cowboy indeed has ridden away. I love you Uncle Glenn. Thank you for being another father to me over the years. From the days at the Alta with the MT River Band rocking the house… Douglas on the leslie… to the days at Chubbies with the graphic design business… visiting you and Lily at the salon… and our time at BoJangles rocking out the house with the band and all our wonderful friends who came to support us. Not to mention the best time we had together… traveling around Montana to DJ Weddings and other gigs with Treasure State Audio Entertainment.
It’s been a wonderful 28 years knowing you Glenn. I will 100% miss you, and wish we could have had more fun times together. Even if we got to visit Deadwood one more time.. just to see if we truly were banned from the Silverado Franklin. A story for another time I suppose. See you again down the road…

I know he will be missed by all of you and the many friends and lives he has touched in his lifetime. Goodbye to one of the good guys. May you rest in peace. Cooky

Many have written memorable things about Glenn. Likewise, he will be very missed. Me and several others (Don, Allen X2, Richard, and Rich) had shared a relationship with him centered around music and respect. I met Glenn in 1977 and became a co-worker not only in music but at Pine Hills School. I will never forget that he was the last person I seen in Miles City in 1995 as I headed west and out of town in a U-Haul. At this time, once again I wave goodbye. Many fond memories of all of our adventures and all of the states we visited.
There are so many great memories because he was always a friend and was very generous with his time and knowledge. He taught me so much and I know his parents and family were very proud of him. Thank you for being a friend to me!
