The night of November 24th, 2019, with family by his side, Gordon “Gordy” Harold Waller passed on from the McCone County Health Center to his eternal home.
Gordy was born on July 22, 1932 to Harold and Lucille Strecker Waller at the family farm home in the rural community of Weldon in McCone County. He was welcomed by an older brother, Glenn F. Waller. Gordy rode horseback to the Horse Creek School through eighth grade, then stayed at the Circle dormitory while attending Circle High School. He and his sweetheart, Helen Quick, were constant companions while in high school and knew by graduation time that they wanted to spend a lifetime together. They were married September 25th, 1951 and made their home on Gordy’s parents’ farm where Gordy worked with his dad. The Korean War was on, and Gordy felt an obligation to serve. He joined the Army in June of 1952 and took basic training at Camp Roberts, CA., then was ordered to Germany where he was a mechanic. When Gordy was released from the Army, he and Helen returned to the family farm where they took over more of the responsibilities and eventually acquired the farm. The couple was blessed with five children; Mary Fay, Lois Kay, Lorie Helen, Lisa Jean, and Harold Edward; and thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
Gordy was an avid hunter, and his hobbies centered around a collection of knives and guns, many of which have been given to and cherished by family members.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Redlich; grandsons, Elliot Waller and Charlie Zimdars; great grandson, Finley Leibrand; parents, Harold and Lucille Waller; and brother, Glenn F. Waller.
Gordy is survived by his wife, Helen; daughters, Lois (Leslie) Leibrand, Lorie Zimdars, Lisa (Robin) Stroh, son, Harold Waller and son-in-law, Keith Redlich.
Pallbearers are his grandsons; Brad and Bryan Redlich, Gordon and Martin Leibrand, Jay Zimdars, and Robert and Benjamin Stroh. Honorary pallbearers are his granddaughters; Karla Breyen, Clarissa Brown, Rebecca Stroh, Vanessa Waller and his great grandchildren.
Special thanks to Patti Wittkopp P.A. and the caregivers at the McCone County Health Center. Memorials may be sent to the McCone County Health Center in Gordy’s name.
The family dog, Turbo, continues to search the house for his master and lies on the floor by Gordy’s bed and whines. Yes, someday we will all have a better understanding of the heartache we feel now and the glorious reunion in days to come.

My thoughts and prayers to all of Gordon’s family for the loss of this wonderful man. He saved my family’s farm when my father passed away in 1978. Since that time, Gordy, Harold, and then Elliot took the very best care of our farm there could have been. We miss them very much, and will always remember their kindness, dedication and honesty. Thank you.
