In Memory Of

Grace L. Morin, 96, of Ashland

March 2, 1926 – March 14, 2022

Grace L. Morin, 96 left this world to be with her Lord and Savior on March 14, 2022 while residing at Riverstone Health Hospice in Billings, MT.

Grace was born on March 2, 1926 in Belcourt, ND. She was the second of six children born to Joseph and Mary (Herman) Lavedure. Grace received her primary and secondary education in Belcourt.

After Grace graduated from high school she began her first job at the Tuberculosis Hospital in San Haven, ND where she met her future husband, Roman. Grace and Roman were united in marriage on November 9, 1944 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Belcourt, ND. Roman passed away in March of 2005. Together they raised 4 children; Roman, Lyman, Sandra, and Kenneth.

After Roman completed training at the ND State School of Science in 1951 they moved to Pembina, ND. During their years in Pembina Grace managed the Tastee Freeze, clerked at the L.B. Hartz store, and eventually retired from the electrical department of Motor Coach Industries. Grace was also known for her seamstress ability and made wedding dresses and clothing alterations for many Pembina and area residents.

Following the spring flooding of 1997, Grace and Roman moved to Rolla, ND after having lost their home of 45 years to the flood waters. They left behind but never forgot their many dear friends in the Pembina area.

While in Rolla Grace took up her penchant for sewing and was instrumental in establishing a quilting group in her basement. Grace made many beautiful quilts for her family and friends which are treasured by all as a lasting memory to her legacy.

Grace made her final move in 2012 to the Heritage Living Center in Ashland, MT where she lived her remaining years.

Grace was an active member of the Assumption parish in Pembina and faithfully attended Catholic Church in Rolla, ND and St. Labre in Ashland.

Grace enjoyed playing cards, bowling, golfing, reading, and playing bingo. Grace also enjoyed traveling to visit family and friends.

Grace is survived by her sons; Roman (Patricia) of Everson, WA, Lyman of Ashland, and daughter-in-law Dorthy of Pocatello, ID, and special nephew Lyman Henderson (Sharla) of Hansboro, ND. In addition she is survived by 12 grandchildren as well as numerous great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband Roman C, daughter Sandra Morin, daughter-in-law Leslie Morin, and youngest son Kenneth.

Roman and Lyman especially want to thank the Heritage Living Center Staff for the care and comfort they have provided to mom for the past 10 years.

Sorry for your loss, Lyman and Ty. Grace was a great loving person. When I would go up to the Heritage center
to visit my Sister Delores when she was up there, I also visited Grace and often brought her books. She loved

Grace was a wonderful kind lady and we got to be good friends. She was so special to me and I can thank her for all the years I put in at MCI so I could retire from there. My first days were very rough because some I had to work with were very unkind and she would walk by me and put her hand on my shoulder and say ( just hang in there dear). R I P Grace. 💕🙏

    Roman, Lyman, and families,
Our thought and prayers are with all. Such a wonderful video tribute to your mom, brought back lots of memories of the amazing person she was. The home your family lived in Pembina was Jack’s second home. Roman and Grace were like my second parents. It would be hard to count the many meals Grace made for us and Roman Senior came to look for us when we didn’t make curfew. Rest In Peace to a wonderful lady who truly deserved the name of Grace.
