Halona Summer Shoulderblade was called back to Maheo on Saturday October 2nd, 2021. Her Cheyenne name is “Kills Through the Enemy Woman” Soena’hane. Halona was born May 2nd 1979 to the late Don Shoulderblade and Ruthie Strangeowl. She made her home on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in Lame Deer Montana with best view facing towards the Kenneth Beartusk Pow Wow grounds, where she took pride with all her picture taking. Halona was the only daughter born along with her brothers. She was a very caring, loving and accepting person. She had a sense of humor and always talked about her special moments she shared with her nieces and nephews and all her cousins on her Shoulderblade and Stangeowl side. She was a very good friend to others and always enjoyed herself with them. She always enjoyed making food for special occasions and for her co-workers. She liked to decorate her home and desk for the all holidays. She enjoyed cruising in the hills in our beautiful Cheyenne country. She also liked to hunt and fish. Halona was always very good with her beading, sewing, and her cooking skills. She liked to bake and make frybread and tortillas. Halona always had a special place in heart for her pets and had a special dog named Oscar. Halona accomplished a lot within her education and work history. She attended the Colorado School of Dentistry in Colorado Springs and did her dental internship at the Northern Cheyenne Indian Health service. She also graduated from the Native FLETC Corrections Academy in Artesia, New Mexico and is a graduate of Chief Dull Knife College. Halona had various jobs within her lifetime. She worked for the Northern Cheyenne Board of Health for third party collections, NC Finance as a travel coordinator, NC Transportation with finance duties, The Flower Grinder, and BIA Law Enforcement of Corrections. Halona was a die-hard Denver Broncos fan and always enjoyed super bowl parties with her friends.
She is survived by her mom, Ruthie, brothers: Keith (Jacklyn) Terry, Sossity, Kadyen, Thomas (Dawnielle) Nakoda, Jayda, Jaeliegh, Hokshila, Rebel Rose. Terry Brockie (Tanya) Titan, Truth, and David Running Rabbit (Taleigh, Kyloni) aunts: Wilma “Tiny” (Neil) Florence (Mike) Running Wolf, Eva (Jim) Lee, Charlotte (Tom) Rockroads, and family matriarch Marcelline. Uncles: Tom Blessing Games, Woodrow, Hubert (Sharon) Oran John, Deacon Joe. As well as many cousins on both sides of her family, nieces, and nephews. Too numerous to mention.
Preceding in death by many relatives, most recent: Her dad Don “Porkchops” Shoulderblade, Aunts Mary Shoulderblade, Rachel Magpie, and Ann Strangeowl Raben, and Starla Shoulderblade. Grand parents Wendell (Turkey) and Ruth Blackwolf, Grandparents Pius and Ethel Woodenlegs Shoulderblade, Don Strange Owl, Gertrude Bullthigh Strange Owl David James Stangeowl, Grace Redneck Stangeowl. Niece: Esevonae’ Buffalo Cow Woman.
Relatives are: Shoulderblade and Stangeowl family and the following: Blackwolf, Seminole, Walkslast, Fisher, Woodenthigh, Weaselbear, Starr, Wolfname, Woodenlegs, George Levi family, Youngman Afraid Of His Horse, Blessing Games, Rednecks, Medicine Bull, Standing Elks, Bearings, Night Walker, Beartusk, Buffalo, Rockaboves, Roundstone, and Fox families. As well as their extended families.
We would like to give thanks to: Stevensons and Sons, all the friends and relatives who gave gifts and monetary gifts, food and for the ones working hard and helping family during this time. Thank you.
