Hanna DeAnn Harris
Amesekehae’e (Pemmican Woman)
Hanna DeAnn Harris, 21, of Lame Deer, MT passed away tragically on July 4, 2013. She was born to Malinda Harris and Sam Long on May 5, 1992 in Billings, MT.
Hanna was blessed with a beautiful baby boy on August 28, 2012. Nellie’ek Rayous was the love of her life. She was a good mommy and devoted her life to her son.
When Hanna was only one year old, she survived the tornado that hit her home on July 20, 1993. She attended Hardin Middle School where she graduated from the 8th grade, and later graduated from Billings West High School in 2010.
Hanna was raised learning Northern Cheyenne traditions and also had a strong Catholic upbringing. Her
confirmation sponsor in the Catholic Church was Thelma Fisher. She also enjoyed peyote meetings and sweats.
She was Grandpa Ray’s baby girl. The two of them would attend Sweat Lodge together, High School Ball games, and driving around. Where ever Ray went Hanna would follow.
Whenever she could get the chance Hanna would make her way to Pine Ridge to see her Dad, Grandmother and other paternal relatives. She was always very proud to say that she was also Lakota.
She belongs to a large family that taught her family values and love. Hanna always offered a helping hand wherever she went.
Family members include Parents: Malinda and Tim Limberhand and Sam and Naomi Long, Grandparents: the late Raymond Harris, Jr. and Clara Harris, the late Jimmy Foote and Theda Foote whom were also her Godparents and the late Dave Long Blackcat and Ramona, Annie & Jim Bement. Sisters; Rose (Ken) Pinkerton, Deidra Harris, Marti and Josie Woodenthigh, Ray Sooktis, Allison Charging Eagle, and Daevona Bull Bear; brothers Stewart Long and Dusty Wilson. Uncles; Lyle (Kassie), Elton (Kylee), Brice (Kristen) Harris; aunts Myra (Virgil) Fisher, Kateri Foote (Zac) and LaVonda Foote (Corey). Extended family includes: Harris, Woodenthigh, Foote, Fisher, Two Two, Robinson, Long, Whiteman, Sioux, Rowland, Charette, Messer, Anderson, Alexander, Long, Cross Dog, Sooktis, Conner, and White Dirt, Haugen families.
The family of Hanna would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all the volunteers who helped in the search: Ed Joiner and the Northern Cheyenne Volunteer Fire Department, Randy Elliot of the Lame Deer Police Department, family, friends, community members, Northern Cheyenne Tribe, Northern Cheyenne Housing Authority, Cheyenne Depot, Montana National Guard, and the Sioux family. Also those who did the candle light vigil and walked from the IHS clinic out to the house, we appreciate it.
We apologize if we left anyone out, as this is a very difficult time for our family. Anyone wanting to make a donation for her son Nallie’ek can do so through the First Interstate Bank directed to his Grandmother Clara Harris account.
