Harold was born on September 23, 1926 at Hazen, North Dakota to Lydia and Otto Scheid. At a year old, he came with his family to the Avando Area North of Terry. He started school there and in 1939 they moved to Terry and he went through a year and a half of high school. He worked for Gus Kuehn until 1944 when he went into the Army and served two years as occupation troops in Japan. He worked for various building contractors and then went to work for the Peavy Elevator and when it closed he went to work for the Prairie County Road Crew. In 1946, he met Delila Nassz and they were married on June 29, 1947. He was a lifetime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Terry and 66 year member of the American Legion in Terry.
Harold is survived by his wife of almost 65 years Delila Scheid of Terry, MT; daughters: Rita Scheid of Terry, Linda (Don) Converse of Augusta, MT; sons: Lynn (Cheryl) Scheid of Miles City, MT; Ryan (Suzanne) Scheid of Mandan, ND; grandchildren and great grandchildren: Sarah Converse and daughter Taylor of Great Falls, MT; Teresa Lane and children Loren and Bethany of Augusta, MT; Pam Converse of Conrad; Larry Scheid of Miles City; Lance and Morgan Scheid of Mandan, ND; step grandchildren: Kelly Draper and daughter Kelsey of Miles City; Kory (Meceala) Draper and children Ayden, Kye and Tegan of Wasilla, Alaska; one brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and four brothers.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 27, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Terry. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Prairie County Cemetery with full military honors. Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home of Terry is in charge of the arrangements.
