Harold Monte Barnhart was called home to be with his wife on July 30th, 2017 at St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing, at age 83.
Harold was born on May 10th, 1934 to Elliott and Esther Barnhart at Epsie, Montana. He was the 3rd of 5 children. He was born and raised on the family ranch at Epsie. He graduated from Broadus High School in 1951. He proudly served our country with the United States Army. He went to Basic Training in Washington, and then enjoyed his many travels during his service. Harold was honorably discharged from duty in April 1962. He met and eventually married the love of his life, Janet Whitney, on April 1st, 1962. They welcomed two daughters, Cora in 1963, and Caryn in 1965. Harold moved his family to Billings in 1971 where he worked for Roscoe Steel for 10 years. Shortly thereafter, he welcomed his first of 5 grandchildren. He took pride in his family and loved us all immensely.
He enjoyed many hobbies including fishing, camping, playing pool, wood work, and spending quality time with his ever-growing family.
Harold is survived by his two daughters, Cora Barnhart and Caryn Watters, siblings Marla Patten, Bud (Delores) Barnhart, Marlene Grimm, and Jesse (Connie) Barnhart. His 5 grandchildren, Trevor Barnhart, Bryce (Brittany) Barnhart, Cami (Steph) Lewellen-Minney, Harold Watters, and Mary Watters. He is also survived by 5 beloved great grandchildren.
Harold was preceded in death by his parents, Elliott and Esther Barnhart, his wife Janet Barnhart, his great grandson Chase Barnhart, and his two great friends L.D. Foster and Ed Lien.
He was the most amazing husband, father, grandad, great grandad, brother, neighbor, and friend any of us could have ever asked for. We all love and miss you dearly, and we all know that “that road goes both ways.” We love you with all of our hearts <3
