In Memory Of

Harold Underwood

April 25, 1923 – March 8, 2012

Harold Duane Underwood was born in Milbank, South Dakota, on April 25, 1925 to Frank and Mary (Pwshaw) Underwood. He left this world on March 8, 2012 after a long battle with an extended illness. He was raised in Milbank on a ranch out in the country. He attended school at the Marvin Country School until the eighth grade. He attended high school in Pierre, South Dakota where he graduated from the 12th grade. When Harold turned eighteen he enlisted in the army where he served for two years.
Harold met his life time companion, Mary Wolftooth and they were married on November 3, 1968. Harold worked for the Egan Ranch for numerous years. He than began employment for the Northern Cheyenne Utilities Commission where he remained employed for fifteen years before retiring. His favorite hobby was collecting cans for recycle and snuff can lids for his favorite daughter in law Sue Shotgunn. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Harold was proceeded in death by his parents; his two brothers, Howard and Elmer Underwood; his three sons, Marvin Spottedelk, Robert Shotgunn II and Rusty Locher; His grandchildren, Leslie Spottedelk, J´Shon Sandcrane, Matthew Shotgunn, Rueban Shotgunn, Haida Littleboy, and Melissa Locher.
Harold is survived by his brothers, Arlin Underwood, Lyle Underwood, Dale Underwood; his sisters, Betty West and Lucille (Linus) Jankord; his wife Mary; his children, Daniel (Delores) Fisher, Tim Littleboy, Erma (Wilmer) Spang, Linda Locher, Karen Locher, Josephine Sandcrane, Nikki Lippert (Douglas Spottedeagle); and his daughter in law SuEllen Shotgunn, Thirty-two grandchildren, Seventy great grandchildren and Seven great-great grandchildren.
The family would especially like to thank the Rosebud Health Care Nursing Home Staff for caring for Harold.
Funeral Services for Harold will be held on March 13, 2012 at 11:00 AM in Lame Deer, Montana at the Blessed Sacrament Church. Full Military Honors will follow the service at the church. Private Burial will take place later. Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home Of Forsyth, MT has been entrusted with these arrangements. Condolences may be left online by visiting www.stevensonandsons.com.

    Remembering Harold Underwood in our families prayers. He was a kind and gentle man. Helpful and caring to all on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation. He will be missed by all his family.
