In Memory Of

Hazel Ernst

Prayer Service: Wednesday, at 6:30 p.m. at the Eagles Manor in Miles City

Memorial Service and Interment: will be held in Sloan City, Iowa

Hazel Dell Ernst, daughter of Bud and Jessie Thacker, passed on Saturday, November 15, 2003 at the age of 101.

Mrs. Ernst was born in Sloan, Iowa moving to Miles City after her 90th birthday. She lived at Eagles Manor in Miles City until July of 2003 at then at the Homestead Home until her death.Mrs. Ernst graduated from Sloan High School and attended Morningside College where she received her teaching certificate. Hazel was a member of the Ladies Aid, Church Choir, former member of Rebecca Lodge, and Grandmothers Club. She taught Sunday school while living in Hinton, IA. After retiring from farming in Hinton, Mr. and Mrs. Ernst moved to Sloan, where they had both graduated from high school.

She is survived by her daughters: Beverly Tillery and her husband Robert of Miles City and Jean Wrenn and her husband Peter of Savannah, GA; and a son, Dr. Marvin Ernst and his wife Dr. Nora Ernst of Chattanooga, TN; six granddaughters, 5 grandsons, eight great granddaughters, and fifteen great grandsons; her sister, Marie Schneider age 95 of Sioux City, IA; and a sister-in-law, Violet Thacker age 100 of Banning, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Leslie, son Captain Ray Ernst and grandson Robert Tillery Jr.; and three brothers: Carl, Jimmy and Harley Thacker.

A Prayer service will be held Wednesday, November 19, 2003 at 6:30 p.m. at the Eagles Manor in Miles City. A second service will be held at Sloan Community Church of Christ in Sloan, Iowa with burial to follow in the Sloan, Cemetery.
