To Heather Moon’s Family –
I never had the privilege of meeting Heather in person. However, during all the facebook exchanges for the Garfield County Fire Foundation during the 2017 Lodgepole Fire catastrophe, Heather’s heart came through loud and clear. When an individual posted their brand and said “we burned out and need hay,” Heather posted to let us know she was working to put a name to the brand. She helped us connected cows with feed before the big convoys starting coming through. As one of the “switchboard” connectors through those intense weeks, I appreciated her more than words can convey. I’m saddened to learn of her passing. I had looked forward to meeting her in person one day. My heart and prayers are with all of you. Those final goodbyes are rough, but the wonderful legacy she left has touched many. Take comfort in that.

I just found out about Heather. I came out to the ranch several summers after I graduated from high school (1974) and worked for Milo and Hertha. These were some of the best times of my life. Your mom would come out fairly often and I stayed in touch with her a bit through the years. Shannon might remember me as the strange old man she met at the Vets Club, riding his bike back to MN in 2016. I was hoping to see Heather again this summer, as I will once again be biking through Circle in July. I don’t know if anyone will read this, but my thoughts and prayers are with you.
