Helen Boyd, age 90, was born on June 17, 1913 in the County of Greenwood, Township of Salt Springs, Kansas to Roy and Nellie Sparks. She was raised South of Brockton and attended country school. Her family moved to Brockton so she could finish high school. She and classmates were State Championship Basketball players in 1930.
On August 10, 1931 she married George Boyd and spent the rest of her life raising her children. In her spare time she worked as a cook in area restaurants as well as head cook at the Brockton school for twenty-five years until she retired.
Our Beloved Mother passed away on June 6, 2003 at the Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point after a long illness.
Her husband and two sons George III and Eugene Fredrick preceded her in death. Helen is survived by seven of her nine children: Roberta Boyd of Poplar, Winona Feiock of Brockton, Patricia Menz of Wolf Point, Lionel Boyd of Poplar, Daryl Boyd of Helena, Judith Boyd and Terry Boyd both of Brockton.
Her brother Richard Sparks of Youngstown, AZ, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends, also survive her.
