Memorial service for Helen Elizabeth Clifford of Gillette will be held at the Blanche Beck Memorial Chapel of Pioneer Manor at 2:00 P.M. on March 16 2005 with Sister Carol Mechtenberg officiating.Burial will be held at the Valley Oaks Memorial Parks on Friday, March 18, 2005. Graveside services entrusted with Pierce Brothers Funeral Home in Westlake Village, California.
Helen Elizabeth Clifford, age 84, of Gillette, Wyoming died on Tuesday, March 15, 2005 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital of natural causes.
Helen Elizabeth Clifford was born on May 20, 1920 the daughter of Oscar and Thora (Carlson) Sundborg in Burley, Idaho. As a young girl the family moved to San Francisco, California. She attended schools and graduated from high school in Los Angeles, California. Then she attended the Los Angeles city college for two years. Helen was working for a lawyers office as a secretary when she met Max Clifford. They were married on December 17, 1944 in Culver City, California. They resided mostly in southern California where Bobbi and Mike were born. Helen and Max raised their children in the San Fernando Valley area. In the early 1970s Max became disabled so Helen and Max traveled with the camping club Forest Gypsies until 1985 when Max passed away. Helen returned to southern California with her family and stayed till 2000 when she moved to Rozet, Wyoming following her family. She has been a resident at Pioneer Manor in 2004 in Gillette, Wyoming. She was a member of Independent Order Foresters and active member in Epiphany Lutheran Church in California. Helen and Max were founding members of this church. They were supportive of their childrens activities, including showing horses and watching their son in little league. Helen enjoyed the outdoors, cooking and caretaker for her husband and other family members.
Helen is survived by a daughter Bobbi McLaurin of Rozet, Wyoming; son Michael Clifford of Sebastopol, California; granddaughter Shauna Rae Smith of Rozet, Wyoming; and grandson Michael Clifford of Sebastopol, California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one sister.
A memorial has been established to benefit Freedom to Ride a program of RENEW.
