On Saturday May 8, 2010 Helen Patterson crossed from her earthly path to the heavenly one.
She was born July 11, 1924 in Livingston, Montana to Olaf and Hilma Zetterwall. She had twin siblings born May 25th 1927, Jean Z. Strickland and Ted Zetterwall. All have preceded her in death.She graduated from Park High School in 1942 and from St. Vincents School of Nursing in 1945 in Billings, MT.She nursed her entire life starting at the Park Hospital in Livingston. She moved to California and worked in Riverside Community Hospital and the Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles before returning home to Montana. She continued at Livingston Memorial Hospital, all the Butte Hospitals and Shodair in Helena. Helen worked in many Doctors offices and retired at the age of 80 when she went on a cruise to Alaska.She married Bill Leckner, May 25, 1948 in Livingston. Bill worked for Mountain Bell and his work took them to many Montana towns. While in Havre their son, Ted was born. Both girls, Pamela and Lynn were born in Butte before returned to Livingston.She was a life time Lutheran and member of St. Johns Lutheran Church. She took and active part throughout the church and enjoyed par taking in the Bible studies.She was an avid reader, loved playing Bridge and belonged to different groups. She enjoyed Civic and Grandstreet Theatre. Helen also belonged to the Red Hat Society. She also loved to travel and went on many tours to Maui, Hawaii, Alaska Mexico, Panama, the Caribbean, Italy, and the entire United States.
She is survived by her children Ted and wife Debbie live in East Helena, Pamela Leckner of Coeur d Alene, ID, Lyn and Terry Groth of Canyon Ferry Lake, eight grand children, Rick (Brenda) of Livingston, Jason (Sonya) of East Helena, Korianne Brown (Heath) of East Helena, Shane Warnick of Porland, OR, Travis Warnick of Livingston, Kristena Rouse (Chad) and Chelsi Lecknerof and both of Cour DAlene, ID, Landon Groth of Bozeman and nine great-grand children.
The joy of her life was spending time with her children. She especially loved being at Canyon Ferry Lake with them, both in the water and at their camp fires, watching as all the family grew. First came grand children, then great-grand children. That was what life is all about, family, friends and good health.
A memorial service celebrating Helens life will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 15th at St. Johns Lutheran Church. A reception will be held in the lower level of the church immediately following the service. Local arrangements have been entrusted to Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home.
