Funeral Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2003 at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery Chapel in Gillette

Internment: will follow at the Gillette Mt. Pisgah Cemetery

Helen Marie Harlow of Gillette, age 90, passed away from natural causes on Wednesday, July 30, at Pioneer Manor.

Services for Helen will be from 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 4, 2003 at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery Chapel in Gillette. Pastor Andrew Carsrud of Family Life Church will be officiating. Burial . Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, August 3, 2003 at Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home Chapel.

Helen Marie Harlow was born on May 30, 1913 in Wyatt, Missouri to Grover and Grace (Beck) McGee. Helen and her family left Missouri for Wyoming when she was a young girl. She graduated from Campbell County High School in 1930, earned a teaching certificate from Normal Training School in 1931, and later taught in a country school. She married Leo Harlow on June 6, 1932. They ran several businesses together while raising their family. These included herding sheep in Campbell County, owning, and operating a trucking business, the Black Diamond Coal Mine north of Gillette, the U & I Market on Highway 59, and the Serve Your Self Laundry. After 36 years of marriage, her husband died and Helen started a childcare business on her own. She was affectionately known as "Aunt Helen" by all of her "children" until her retirement. Helen had a lifetime of involvement with varied community activities in Gillette including, the Senior Center, Retired Teachers, Church Deaconess, and Election Judge. She loved to travel be involved with her grandchildren and do crochet and needlework.

She is survived by her daughter Betty Jo McCormick of Dubois, WY, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one brother, and one sister. She was preceded in death by her husband, one child, mother, father, one brother, one sister, and son-in-law, John McCormick.

In memory of Helen, a memorial has been established to the Senior Center. Donations can be sent in care of Stevenson-Wilson Funeral Home, 210 W. 5th St., Gillette, Wyoming 82716.
