Helen Frances Scott, age 88, passed away due to a respiratory illness on Saturday, April 3, 2004 at the Horizon Hospice Home in Billings, Montana.

Helen was born on December 3,1915, in Miles City, Montana, the daughter of Grant and Robertie (Combs) Brown. She grew up working on the family dairy farm on the North side of town. After completing her education in the Miles City school system, she attended the Chicago Hairdressing Academy in Fargo, ND. in 1938. On September 25, 1939, Helen married John Scott in Lewistown, Mt. While she was raising her family of four boys, she operated a beauty shop in the family home. In 1961 "Mrs. Helen" started working as an instructor at the Miles City Beauty College and continuing until retiring in 1978. Helen was then able to indulge in her love of traveling, both in a motor home and on trips with the Friendship Force overseas. From 1988 through 1995 she worked as a Senior Companion, assisting elderly clients in being able to continue to live independently. Helen was a member of the First Methodist Church, Eagles, Moose Club, The Degree of Honor, The Pythian Organization and the Lamplighters Home Extension Club. In October 2000, she moved to Billings to be near family.

She is survived by her four sons: Jerry Scott and his wife Sandy, of Hannibal, MO; Patrick Scott and his wife Judy, of Billings: John Scott and his wife Verna, of Jackson, TN; and George Scott and his wife Kathy, of Reno NV; twelve grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents, one sister: Lona, three brothers: Dan, Richard, and Joseph.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2004 in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. A Prayer service will be held on Thursday, April 8, 2004 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 9, 2004 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow in the Custer County Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.stevensonandsons.com. Should friends desire, memorials may be made to the Horizon Hospice Home in Billings.
