Helen Grace (Kelly) Taylor, beloved wife, mother, grand mother, great grand mother and great-great grand mother, passed peacefully into the loving arms of Jesus at her home on June 2, 2010.
Helen was born on January 10, 1924, to Merianna (Alwine) and Emory Victor Kelly in Logans Ferry, Pennsylvania. She grew up on the family farm and attended schools in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.During WWII, Helen served on the home front by filling job positions left vacant by servicemen at B. F. Goodrich, Roos Brothers, and Bestforms. Her employment took her from Akron, Ohio, to Spokane, Washington, to Oakland, California.She met her future husband, Charles Robert Bob Taylor, in Oakland, California, where he was serving in the United States Navy. After the war they were married in Las Cruces, New Mexico, on July 17, 1946.Helen and Bob owned and operated an aviation repair and flying service in Greenville, Mississippi, for ten years. After moving to Helena in 1966, Helen actively volunteered in several organizations. She supervised nursery services at St. Pauls Methodist Church, taught Sunday school and served as a greeter at 1st Assembly of God Church, acted as Cub Scout leader, and performed outreach service for Westmont.Helens family was her greatest comfort and joy. She cherished times spent with her children, grand children, and great grand children, both casual visits and milestone events such as her 50th and 60th wedding anniversary celebrations. After Bobs retirement in 1989, she loved traveling extensively in their motor home. They traveled coast to coast and spent most winters in Arizona. Helen also enjoyed raising flowers; she was well known for her beautiful roses.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Walter and Robert Kelly; and her son, Charles Robert Taylor, Jr.
She is survived by her husband Bob; daughters Marilynn Taylor of Florence, Montana; Mary Ann (Aaron) Herriges of East Helena, Montana; grand children Tally (Valerie) Armstrong of Helena, Montana; Charles (Vanessa) Armstrong of Butte, Montana; and Jessica Armstrong of Helena, Montana; step grand children Tony Herriges of Selah, Washington, Teresa Liedle of LasVegas, Nevada, and; Luke Herriges of Yakima, Washington; Great grandson Mark Matthews, Jr., of Spokane, Washington; great grand children Christopher and John Armstrong; Kayci and Kaydence Armstrong; and Saphrin Anderson, all of Helena, Montana; and one Great-great-grand daughter Chrisandra Matthews of Spokane, Washington.
In lieu of flowers the family respectfully requests memorials to the Florence Crittenton Home, 901 N. Harris, Helena, Montana 59601, or a charity of your choice. Visitation will be at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home on Monday, June 7, 2010 from 4-6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 8, 2010 at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Chapel with internment to follow at Forestvale Cemetery.
