George Herbert “Herb” Kerr died January 31, 2022 at his home in Miles City, MT, surrounded by his family.
Herb was born to George and Susan Kerr on December 9, 1947, in Belle Fourche, SD. He lived most of his life in Carter County, MT. Herb loved and excelled at sports, playing baseball, football, basketball and track in school. He loved the outdoors and spent time hunting, fishing, water-skiing and snowmobiling. He was also a long-time member of the Ekalaka Masonic Lodge No. 120 and the Shriners’ Sorrel Horse Patrol. Herb worked at a variety of jobs as a young man, including at local gas stations, as a ranch hand, and at the local telephone company. He worked at Southeast Electric Cooperative for 38 years, first as a lineman and later as the line foreman, retiring in 2011. He loved Willie’s Roadhouse, sometimes sharing it a little too much with his family and fellow linemen on road trips.
Herb was a family man who married his high school sweetheart, Linda Cline, and had two daughters and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He made a mean Bloody Mary and hosted many beer and pickle nights. Herb’s motto was “wait and see”.
Herb is survived by his wife Linda; daughters Leslie Kerr (David Hostetter) and Nikki Erlenbusch; grandchildren Brittany Raines (Casey Raines), Cade Erlenbusch, and Sienna Hostetter; great-grandchildren Mason Zamora, Brooklyn Zamora, Kamden Raines, Caleb Raines, Caiden Raines, and Bentley Raines; sister Mary Brewer; and numerous nieces and nephews. Herb was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Russell Cridland, Willard Cridland, and John Kerr; sister, Alice Crabtree; niece, Machelle Grimes.
