Hilda Fern (Tipton) Fredrickson, age 95, of Broadus passed away on Friday, June 24, 2016 at the Powder River Manor.
Fern was born on the family homestead at Baking Powder near Graham, Montana on March 21, 1921, the daughter of Charles and Hilda (Frankforter) Tipton. The family lived there for two years before moving to Moskee, Wyoming where they lived for three years before returning to Baking Powder. She attended various country schools before attending high school in Broadus. After her schooling, she worked for various ranchers. On February 14, 1941 she married the love of her life, Ernest Fredrickson in Miles City, Montana. Together they worked on the ranch where they raised Herefords. To this union, two children were born Jim and Monty. They remained on the farm for over fifty years. Fern worked several years as the clerk of the Baking Powder School Board.
After Ernest passed away, Fern enjoyed spending time with Fidelia Gilger. They traveled to many locations including Hawaii. She also enjoyed embroidery, bowling, golfing, playing cards, square dancing and spending time with family and friends. She also loved taking care of her beautiful yard and large garden. She spent her last 5 years at the Manor where she really excelled at Bingo and all their activities. Fern was a member of the Broadus VFW Auxiliary for many years.
