Funeral services: Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City.
Interment: Eastern Montana State Veterans Cemetery with full military honors provided by VFW Post 1579.
Howard L. Holman, age 88, of Miles City passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at the Holy Rosary Health Center in Miles City.
Howard was born in Grabor, Montana on August 15, 1920, the son of Clarence and Molly (Dvorak) Holman. In 1926, his family traveled by horse drawn wagon from Wyoming to Foster Creek where his father claimed a homestead site. He attended schools in the area. Howard enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country in World War II, he serving in Okinawa, Japan. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to the ranch. Howard married Emma Mae Kemp on August 18, 1952 in Miles City, Montana. Howard and Emma Mae ranched in the Foster Creek area until 1978 when he retired and moved to Miles City. Howard liked to visit with family and friends, driving his riding lawn mower, and spending time with their cat Pudder. He was a member of the VFW, the Eagles and the Masonic Lodge.
Howard is survived by 2 sons; Jerry (Donna) Holman and Ronnie Holman all of Miles City; 3 daughters; Donna (Wade) Larson of Bowman, ND, Sherry (Bob) Sprenger of Helena, MT and Lorrie Clemons of Miles City, MT; a step son, Larry (Linda) Kemp of Glenrock, WY, 3 sisters: Arlene Nelson of Miles City, MT, Shirley (Fred) Thoeny of Miles City, MT, and Esther Culpepper of Tulsa, OK; 22 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Mae Holman; a step-son Gary Kemp, a step-daughter Linda Stoldorf Worrell and his two brothers-in-law: Stanley Nelson and Bob Culpepper.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Miles City. Interment will follow in the Eastern Montana State Veterans Cemetery.
