Hubert H. Gay, age 87, of Broadus passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at the Powder River Manor in Broadus.
Hubert H. Gay was born August 12, 1918 in Sheridan, Wyoming, the son of Bud and Mabel Helm Gay. Hubert grew up on the family ranch and attended local rural grade schools. He graduated from Custer County High School in 1936 and graduated from Colorado State College (Colorado State University) with a degree in Animal Science in 1940. Hubert enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942 and served as a B-17 pilot stationed in England during WWII. After his honorable discharge, he returned to the family ranch. Hubert and Mary Miles were married in 1947 at Miles City.
Hubert is survived by his wife, Mary of the family ranch, son John (Anne) of Pullman, Washington, son Bill (Dina) of Broadus, son Glenn of the family ranch, and daughter Marianna (Carl) Hansen of Billings. Hubert is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Matthew, Christopher and Elizabeth of Pullman; Jody of Broadus and Ft. Collins, Colorado; Hannah and Miles of Billings. He is also survived by a sister Rosalie Gay Mortell of Indian Wells, California and 2 nephews and 3 nieces.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 5, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Congregational Church in Broadus. A private burial will be held at the Eastern Montana State Veterans Cemetery in Miles City.
