Imants “Eric” Fridrichson 1/22/37—3/29/16
Eric was born in Riga, Latvia on January 22, 1937, and lived in Latvia until he was seven years old, when the family moved to Germany. He came to America with his family in 1949 in the Displaced Persons Act and lived in Des Moines, Iowa where he attended school. He said he could spell the words in English all right, but didn’t know what some of them meant.
He was in the Army Air Force and fought in the Korean War. After being discharged, he came to Missoula, Montana and opened an electronics repair shop. After a few years, he took a job in New York with a large construction company to repair their equipment.
In 1974 he came back to Montana to “get away from it all” after living in the big city for many years. In Miles City he found a job with an appliance dealer who had stores in Miles City and Forsyth. Later he worked for Steadman’s Hardware in Miles City.
In 1979 he and Elizabeth “Betty” Erickson were married. He embraced her children as his own, and the grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they came along. Many have been touched by his kind words of Godly wisdom. They moved to Florida where they both graduated from the St. Petersburg Theological Seminary and pastored a church in Wisconsin for four years; then answered a call to a church in Florida for the next ten years. At retirement Eric and Betty moved back to Montana.
He was preceded in death by their daughter, Marie, and sons, Robert and Wayne Eddy. He is survived by his widow, Betty, of Billings, their sons, Dave Eddy and Dan Troy, of Miles City, a daughter, Patti (Troy) Clayton of Billings, thirteen grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in the Miles City Cemetery on Wednesday, April 13. Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
