Irene Harris, daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and friend, died Tuesday morning in Billings. Irene proudly served her country in the Army beginning in 1973. Part of her military career was spent in Germany until receiving an Honorable Discharge in 1976. She then continued her service with the BLM starting as a Data Entry clerk in Great Falls which led to a career as a Petroleum Engineer Tech for the Miles City BLM field office, which she retired from after 30 years of Public Service.
Irene was a joyful person who could light up a room with her spontaneous dancing and contagious laugh. She loved her family deeply with a fierce loyalty. She was her mother’s best friend and a wonderful mother to her only son. She was a fabulous sister who made us laugh loudly and often.
She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her Mother and Father Maria and Robert Ranieri; her sisters Lori Ranieri Anderson, Trish Ranieri Grau and Sandy Kinsey, her son Chuck Harris, grandchildren Victoria and Connor and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
May you now walk with God in His peace and mercy. Until we meet again.

Prayers to the family. I got to enjoy working with Irene at BLM. She would love to dance to that funky music and hated country music. She actually had some pretty crazy dance moves. Irene loved her diet coke and dark chocolate candy bars. I got to go to the field with her one day so she could show me some of the ropes. Irene hung her arm out the window like a true farmer would – when suddenly a grasshopper landed on her arm – she almost wrecked us and believe it or not, she was almost sitting in my side of the vehicle with her seat belt on. It took a while for her to get her air back and whole lot longer for me to quit laughing at her over a grasshopper. She was always willing to get in on the fun of pulling off a prank or two at work also. Believe me, the boys loved to prank her as well. My deepest sympathy to the family at this time of saddness.

I spent endless hours with Irene in the office and in the field, as she trained me in my new career as a PET. I have an identical story of a grasshopper almost ending both our lives while she was driving. Irene was in fact part of many jokes and pranks in the office. One of my favorite things to do was get Renie laughing. I can still hear her laugh and I haven’t seen her in a few years. It was infectious to say the least. She loved to put her headphones on and boogie out to all of her favorite 70s disco hits. She was a good mentor as she in her best mothering way, would inform us when we weren’t doing something correctly with our paperwork. The day she left the office for good it was never really the same in there. You will be forever missed Renie. RIP.

I’m so very sorry to hear about Irene. Her laugh and smile was contagious for sure. There are so many great stories from work. Grasshoppers were not her thing, but no bugs were. We were driving and she suddenly stopped in the middle of the street as she jumped out of the car because she saw a dead wasp in the back window. She’ll be remembered fondly by so many. My deepest condolences.
Maureen Larson says
Trish I am so sorry to hear this. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

We just learned of Irene’s passing. We send our prayers and condolences to her family. I actually got Irene to tranfer to Miles City to become a PET. She was a crackerjack addition to the I&E staff. Irene had a zero tolerance for bugs in general, but grasshoppers were the devil. She had a glorious laugh and we shared many adventures across the years.
