I am so sorry to hear of Irene’s passing. When I see that name it brings back a flood of memories. While growing up, I lived just 2 blocks from the Fair Price Grocery. I bought a lot of candy and pop from Irene. She was always there behind the counter and treated the neighborhood kids very well. I am surprised she didn’t get frustrated with the indecision over the penny candies. I cant say how many times over the years I have driven past the old store and missed the days of my childhood and all of this, largely due to Irene. Rest in Peace.
