Irene Tina Hoeger, age 87, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Edgewood Vista in Spearfish, SD
Irene was born on June 29, 1937 in Fairview, MT to Christ and Martha (Bieber) Genther. She grew up on the family farm in Richland County MT and attended a country school near her home, and later finished her schooling in Savage, MT.
Irene met her future husband, Fred G. Hoeger while working at the airport in Glendive, MT and they were married in Sidney, MT on Dec 27, 1953. They lived in various places in Eastern Montana where Fred was an agent/telegrapher on the Railroad. In 1967, they settled in Terry, MT.
Irene enjoyed her job working for the state of Montana visiting various agencies, including senior centers, insuring a pleasant environment for all involved. In 1979, she began a career with the railroad, working as an agent/operator/clerk and traveling around eastern Montana.
Irene was very talented and creative. She enjoyed sharing her love of fishing, rock hunting, crocheting, painting, beading, and ceramics with friends and family. Many fond memories have been created over the years with Irene’s smile and laughter.
She always had a strong faith in God, and relied on her trust in God throughout her life.
Irene is preceded in death by her husband, Fred G Hoeger.
Irene is survived by three children: Fred (Cheryl) Hoeger of Helena, MT, grandchild Andrea (Jason) Hoeger Cysewski and great grandchildren Alexander and Aryanna; Carol (Ken) Joedeman of Stapleton, NE and grandchild Jessica Joedeman; Naome (Fred) Schlup of Spearfish, SD and grandchild Spencer Schlup.

I had many happy and creative times with Irene and Naome. We painted, made cards, and had lots of laughs. Irene usually had a cute quilt in the making, as well as some jewelry. I will miss Irene’s sweet chuckle and positive attitude. I deeply feel for Naome and all her other family and friends. 💕
