Isabel M. (Swanson) Jensen was born June 20, 1939 in Wolf Point to Charles E. and Deana Howe. She graduated from WPHS in 1948 and then traveled to Minot, ND where she was employed at Murphy Finance Company. There she met Eugene P. (Gene) Swanson and they were married October 16, 1949. To this union five children were born.
Gene passed away September 10, 1990.Isabel liked to travel, read, play bridge and be with her family and friends.
Isabel was a past Worthy Matron of Riverside Chapter #84, Order of Eastern Star and a Past Mother advisor for Rainbow for Girls Assembly #53, receiving the Grand Cross of Color. She was also an active member of the Daughters of the Nile. She was active in the community by serving as a Brownie Scout leader. She was a lifetime member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Wolf Point serving as elder, deacon and choir member. She had also worked for the State Highway Department in Wolf Point.
Survivors are three daughters, Sharon (Eldon) Dschaak of Wolf Point, Linda (Calvin) Hanson of Cut Bank, and Deanna (Darryl) Keen of Azle, TX and two sons, Charles (Valarie) Swanson of Huntley, MT and Richard (Lori) Swanson of Belt, MT, 14 grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. One sister, Thelma (Les) Hudiburgh of Billings and one niece and one nephew also survive her. On April 22, 1995 she married her long time friend Donald (Felix) Jensen in Wolf Point. To her pleasure she acquired an extended family of five step-daughters, Deanne (Jim) Stone of Hope, AR, Jennifer (Darrell) Zimmerman, Mary Ellen (Alan) Hoversland all of Wolf Point, Colleen (Mark) Halsey and Cathleen Jensen of McCook, NE and two step-sons Dennis (Gail) Jensen of Troy, ID and Danny Jensen of Rapid City, SD, 13 step- grandchildren and 13 step-great grandchildren.
Isabel passed away July 27, 2004 at Northeast Montana Health Services in Wolf Point. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 30 from 1 to 8 pm with a public Eastern Star service at 7 pm at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel.
Funeral services will be at 2 pm on Saturday, July 31 at Clayton Stevenson Memorial Chapel. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery.
