Isidor was born in Fallon, Montana on July 30, 1925, the son of Gottlieb and Katherine (Stickel) Sackman. He grew up on the family farm and went to the Sackman Country School and Fallon School. He married Mary Ann Krausz on September 12, 1948 in Plevna, Montana. She passed away in August of 1995. He remained on the family farm until 1995, retiring and moving into Fallon until 1998 when he moved to Sidney. Isidor married Marilyn Karsten on June 25, 1998. In November of 2010, he moved to Glendive to be near family.
Isidor was on the Fallon School Board for 9 years, Terry High School Board for 9 years and was a Prairie County Commissioner for 12 years. He was a member of the Elks Lodge in Sidney, MT; Moose Lodge in Williston, ND; and Eagles Lodge in Miles City, MT. Isidor loved to sing and dance. The thing he enjoyed most was spending time with his family.
Isidor is survived by his children, Karen (Kenny) Strobel of Miles City, MT; Darrell (Linda) Sackman of Glendive, MT; and Jerry Sackman of Fallon, MT; two sisters: Rachel Meredith of Flagstaff, AZ; and Esther Olson of Kansas City, KS, five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Mary Ann, and a sister Ruby Wahl.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Stevenson & Sons Funeral Home in Terry followed by a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church in Terry. Interment will follow in the family lot of the Prairie County Cemetery in Terry. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting: www.stevensonandsons.com.
