John Haskell “Jack” Martin, age 86, of Miles City passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at the Holy Rosary Hospital in Miles City, Montana. He is now with his loved ones in heaven.
John was born November 16, 1929 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He grew up at White Oak, Oklahoma and attended school through high school in Vinita, Oklahoma. He spent the balance of his life working as an iron worker building some of the largest tall buildings in Denver, Colorado. He met Helen Hagedorn in Denver and they were married a short time and had one son. Then Helen’s father passed away and she went home to Montana to help her mother on the farm. She always kept in touch with Jack’s mother until she remarried. Jack was married then to Helen and they then had two sons. When his wife Helen passed away, he then contacted Helen Lockie, who was a widow, in Montana and he came to visit her and they spent the rest of their life together.
Jack had a passion for fishing and taught Helen to fish, so they spent their time together fishing in Oklahoma in the spring and then going to Saskatchewan, Canada and fished during the summer. They usually made a fall trip to Oklahoma and did more fishing. We had planned to go to Canada in 2015 but our whole fishing area was on fire so we cancelled that trip. Jack’s health was not good enough to make a trip this spring. His main enjoyments in life were fishing and hunting. He will be missed by all.
Jack is survived by his wife, Helen Lockie Martin of Miles City, MT; three sons: Jack (Glenda) Lockie of Miles City, MT; Rauk of California, and Don (Amber) Martin of Langley, OK; his grandchildren: Seth (Anna) Lockie and their children Kadence, Kara, Kameron and Kaitlynn; Shaun (Billie) Lockie and their children Hayden, Austyn, Britton and Alexis; Shane Lockie and his children Hailey and Lillian; John Martin, Jessica, Martin, Joseph (Jamie) Martin, Pixie Martin and Maria Cooweesta; and a sister Pixie Dewitt of Tulsa, OK.
