Jack Payer passed away on December 18, 2006 at his home with his family surrounding him with love.
Jack was born January 3, 1939 to Frances and Viola (Darrah) Payer in Columbus, Montana. Jack Graduated from Park City High School as part of the Class of 57. In 1959 he enlisted in the Army, spending part of his enlistment in Orleons France. He was honorably discharged in May of 1962.Jack became a highly skilled Millwright/Welder applying his craft on the missile installations in Montana, South Dakota and North Dakota. He worked on the construction of the power plant at Fort Smith and also on the construction of the coal-fired units in Colstrip. In 1975, he became part of the permanent work force for Montana Power in Colstrip and was employed until his retirement in 1995.
He is survived by his wife; Patricia, whom he married in May of 1963. One daughter, Michelle Sleaford, (Alan) of Shepherd and one son, Jason, of Forsyth. Two granddaughters, Shelby & Chevelle Sleaford; one sister, April (Payer) Dorris of Billings along with his parents, Frances and Viola Payer of Billings.He is also survived by his mother-in-law-Ruth Debus and two nephews-Kenneth (Carrie) Dorris of Billings and Kevin Dorris of Missoula.
In June of 2006, Jack & Pat moved to their new home at Custer where Jack was looking forward to continually improving his herd of registered limousin cattle and Pats retirement in December of 2006. Jack was a wonderful loving husband and father and will be missed by all who knew him.
At Jacks request, Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, December 22, 2006 at 11:00AM in the Chapel of Stevenson and Sons Funeral Home in Forsyth.Condolences may be sent to the Payer family by visitingwww.stevensonandsons.com.
